The Challenge

Constellation
Constellation Reduzida

Constellation is the largest o shore drilling contractor operating in Brazil, with over 45 years of experience in the energy sector. The decarbonization of the oil and gas sector requires technological innovation combined with robust strategic planning. To achieve its climate ambitions, Constellation needed structured processes for analyzing and prioritizing mitigation opportunities, capable of charting a clear and e ective path for the coming years. Strategically, the company also required an analysis of its positioning regarding climate commitments, industry peers, and the Brazil’s regulated carbon market.

Our Work

Constellation

To address Constellation’s challenges, WayCarbon acted as a strategic partner, implementing an integrated solution that combined consulting services with the Emissions Management module of the WayCarbon Ecosystem platorm. The project began with a detailed assessment and mapping of Scope 1, 2, and 3 sources, followed by a comparative market analysis. On the strategic front, decarbonization scenarios were modeled, the cost-e ectiveness of actions was assessed using the MAC curve, and the internal carbon price was calculated.

Results

Constellation

The project resulted in a strategic roadmap, featuring realistic ambitions and governance indicators based on different decarbonization scenarios. Through the MAC curve and carbon pricing, the company gained economic predictability and regulatory protection, enabling it to prioritize the most cost-effectiveness emission reduction opportunities for the business.

Additionally, a customized simulation tool was delivered, providing internal teams with the flexibility to test new projects and generate new decarbonization scenarios independently. Furthermore, with the implementation of the Ecosystem, the company gained greater autonomy in data collection, consolidation, and analysis, reducing reliance on manual processes and increasing the traceability and reliability of reported information.
