WayCarbon is selected for the NBS Brazil Alliance

WayCarbon has been accepted into the Brazil Nature-Based Solution (NBS) Alliance, which promotes and encourages a safe and reliable business environment for carbon credits and nature-based solutions agendas in Brazil. The institution aims to combat deforestation and forest degradation by creating guidelines and best practices for carbon projects and other NBS-focused actions.

Lucas Ribeiro, Socio-Environmental Development Manager at WayCarbon, emphasized that one of the most important practical contributions of the Brazil NBS Alliance is the critical analysis of projects submitted to Verra’s global registration platform during public consultations. This makes it possible to comment on all projects under development. Verra is responsible for the world’s leading certification programme for voluntary carbon markets, the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), which ensures that credits correspond to less carbon in the atmosphere.

“In our reflections on developing projects, we have seen that it is very important to participate in this space of technical contribution and, therefore, in the construction of the carbon market in Brazil. We are honored that WayCarbon has been unanimously accepted by the members of the Alliance,” said Lucas. Breno Rates, Director of Carbon Projects, and Rubens Ferreira, Carbon Operations Manager, will also participate on behalf of WayCarbon in the initiative, which will include rituals such as monthly online meetings and working groups.

The Brazil NBS Alliance is a voluntary, non-profit, private association (with selection and acceptance processes) that also acts in moments such as in the support for the construction of public policies related to the subject. With WayCarbon’s entry, the association has 25 members and includes names such as Agrocortex, Bio Assets, Ekos Brazil, Fundação Amazônia Sustentável (FAS), Volkswagen Climate-Partner and other major players in the ecosystem.
